Selector Dub Narcotic, Pylon Reenactment Society

Singer-songwriter and producer Calvin Johnson is a godfather of modern indie rock, as the founder of famed Pacific Northwest label K Records and frontman for Beat Happening, Halo Benders and Dub Narcotic Sound System. He continues that last group’s lo-fi funk legacy with Selector Dub Narcotic, his current solo project. On kinda silly, kinda perfect tracks like “The Party’s Over” and “Baby’s Got Oi,” from last year’s This Party Is Just Getting Started, homemade dance beats playfully underscore Johnson’s iconic, equable baritone. Gear up for a night of goof-groovin’ with the sweet sounds of the Pylon Reenactment Society, which opens Wednesday’s show.
