Hellrazor, Art Contest

Connecticut-based group Hellrazor is fronted by singer, songwriter and guitarist Mike Falcone, whom folks might know from his work behind the drum kit with indie-rock darlings Speedy Ortiz. Hellrazor’s recently released Satan Smile LP is a barrage of metallic riffs, noise-rock menace and incongruously shiny, Bob Pollard-esque melody. It’s a fun and refreshing record—vibrant, cheeky and proudly pubescent. Its song titles include “Covered in Shit,” “Ouija Bot” and “Sad Satan,” if that gives you any idea of Falcone’s project’s general vibe. Athens math-pop duo Art Contest, which is similarly full of vim and vigor, opens Sunday’s show at The World Famous.
