Addressing the relationships between race, place and power, “Upstream I” is a series of abstract and representational paintings by Juan Logan, an artist who seeks to convey how social stereotypes and institutional power structures influence contemporary life. Thursday’s reception also celebrates the opening of two other exhibitions. “Full House” is a biennial show reflecting the wide range of talents among members of various guilds and artist groups who convene under the Lyndon House’s roof. In the Lounge Gallery, emerging textile artist Maddie Zerkel will share a collection of new works. The sequential “Upstream II,” which opens mid-January, will be a group exhibition of African and African-American artists.
