Athens Jazz Festival

After returning last fall following a multi-year hiatus, WUGA 91.7 FM’s free, family-friendly Athens Jazz Festival is back for another round. This year, the event features eight local acts representing the increased breadth of the local scene, including the long-running Classic City Swing Band, worldly Athens Tango Project and acclaimed Louis Romanos Quartet, as well as Mary and the Hot Hotty-Hots, Trey Wright Quartet, Chris Enghauser Trio, Whitehall Jazz Collective and recent Flagpole Athens Music Award winners Period Six. Expect sounds from across the jazz spectrum, from jubilant swing to crisp bebop. Bring a picnic and the kids and enjoy a long afternoon of outdoor music.
