New Madrid, Dave Marr

Known to many as the frontman of ‘90s Athens mainstays the Star Room Boys, local singer-songwriter Dave Marr has spent two decades cultivating his unique brand of country-tinged Americana, equal parts revved-up honky tonk and alt-folk pathos. His new album, We Were All In Love, is the culmination of his methodical woodshedding over the past several years; the 11-track recording, which features a cast of local players including Don Chambers, Thayer Sarrano, John Fernandes and Bo Bedingfield, showcases Marr at his most crafty and comfortable. Psych-rockers New Madrid headline Friday’s Athens Area Habitat for Humanity benefit.
