From adoration and bliss to pining and heartbreak, “Love in All its Many Forms” borrows one of mankind’s greatest sources of inspiration as a theme. The annual group exhibition is the shop’s largest and most diverse, this year featuring more than 70 artists. Ruth Allen’s wide-eyed couple in “FUNNY Valentines,” which scattered a handful of hearts across the cover of Flagpole last week, epitomizes romance, while Missy Kulik’s bears in “Hug it Out” exemplify a forgiving love between friends. Other works are somber, like Cheryl Washburn’s deceased bird in “Love is Fleeting (Time is Fleeting)” and Tyler Wood’s skeletal sketch in “Other Words for Bitter.” Collectively, the works demonstrate our ability to find love in each other and the world around us.
