The Soft Moon, Feather Trade, Muuy Biien

Deeper, Luis Vasquez’s third full-length release as The Soft Moon, which he released last year via indie tastemaker Captured Tracks, transcended the New Order-aping darkwave of his (solid, if largely fleeting) previous albums by conjuring a darker, denser sound. Pulling equally from Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails and Prurient’s more beat-oriented material, Deeper finds Vasquez retreating into a delicious haze of self-loathing and despair. Don your all-black everything and head to the 40 Watt Wednesday, where The Soft Moon headlines a bill that also features local downer-rock enthusiasts Feather Trade and Muuy Biien.
