Peter Dale Is Opening a New Restaurant on Chase Street

Love The National but don’t go there anymore because, as Yogi Berra is alleged to have said, it’s too crowded? Well, you’re in luck. Local cheftrepreneur-made-good Peter Dale is opening a new restaurant, Maepole, on Chase Street in early 2018.

Maepole will operate out of a yet-to-be-renovated building at Chase and Miles, near the new Creature Comforts brewery, a bit farther down Chase than most folks are used to going except to get tacos or fancy bathroom fixtures.

Dale calls it “fast casual” and says it will be open for lunch and dinner, serving “real, quick, wholesome food at an accessible price. Whether ordering at the counter or online, guests are encouraged to build their own plate or choose one of our chef’s selections. Our menu will change several times per year to showcase seasonal vegetables and grains. Guests can also choose a variety of proteins and sauces to customize their meal.

“Maepole will serve Southern staples while drawing flavor inspiration from around the world,” Dale adds. “Drinks will include fresh housemade beverages, inexpensive wine by the glass and draft options, including local beer and a refreshing spritz.”

The plan is to have a lovely patio and a family-friendly environment with shade from nearby pecan trees. In addition to Dale, others involved with the project are bar manager Michael Clancy and Nathan Goodman, both of The National.

And what of that name? Dale says, “‘Maepole’ references traditional maypole dances celebrating growth and abundance in the new season,” but the spelling comes from his grandmother, Mae.
