As of 7 a.m. this morning, the second location of Mama’s Boy (aka Mama’s Boy at the Falls) is open for business, at 8851 Macon Hwy., near the intersection with White Oak. The hope, of course, is that having two locations will relieve the brunch wait, and now you can decide if you want your sales tax dollars to go to Clarke or Oconee.
Also open, in the former Brixx Pizza location downtown, in the West Washington Street parking deck/multi-use building, is The Office Sports Bar and Grill, a restaurant out of Columbus, not to be confused with the bar of the same name in the Homewood Hills Shopping Center. Every Tuesday brings $5 burger specials, and brunch is served Sundays.
Also downtown, the Five Guys location at the corner of College and Broad closed over the weekend, leaving one of the primo locations in town open. The Epps Bridge location remains open.
Out on Mars Hill Road in Watkinsville, in what was previously Fifth Avenue Pizza, Fully Loaded Pizza has been open since September, with a full bar and a large number of specialty pies, plus wings.
In Atlanta, Athenian Hugh Acheson has opened the second location of his Spiller Park Coffee, in the Toco Hill Shopping Center. The first location is in Ponce City Market. He’ll also be opening a restaurant next year called Achie’s, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, inside the Omni Hotel at the Battery development near the Braves’ SunTrust Park.
