Five & Ten, The National, home.made Offer Game Day Eats

If you are not interested in consuming a heretical Alabama barbecue sandwich in Sanford Stadium on Saturday, there are some other options around town.

Five and Ten, for example, is doing boiled peanuts ($5) and Tropicalia ($4) on the porch starting at 4 p.m. The restaurant is also offering something it calls “Game Hen Game Day,” where you get a Portuguese roasted game hen with two sides and two “massive biscuits” for $24. Call 706-546-7300 if you need more than four orders or just to make sure you can get in on that, then pick yours up starting at 2 p.m. The restaurant’s Instagram post says, “It feeds one big-eatin’ hungry human or two people who eat normal sized meals.” (Non-gameday-related sidebar: Tuesday ramen is also back. Yay!)

If you’re not going to the game and don’t care to watch it (or want to save the watching until later), The National has its During the Game dinner special going on again. From 6–9 p.m., you can get a lovely prix-fixe menu for $32 (details here). Lunch also runs extended hours on Saturday, from 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m., so you don’t have to choose between your team and your tastebuds.

Not specifically football-related and not limited to Saturday is home.made’s Supper Club deal, where you can pick two courses from a list for a mere $15, as long as you’re there between 5:30–6:30 p.m. This week’s include “Southern scotch egg (stuffed with pimento cheese) or roasted pear salad for your first course, followed by either pan-seared chicken breast and andouille filé gumbo or central grocery pasta (sesame tagliatelle with house ham and crispy prosciutto).” You can get the deal Tuesday through Saturday and see up-to-date menus here.
