If you’ve been stuck at the light at Gaines School and Cedar Shoals, you may have noticed a sign that popped up in the old Charlie Nobles space in the Ansonborough development. Craft Public House plans to open there later this month, the project of chef/owner Brandon Kelly. Craft is a gastropub, which is certainly something new for the Eastside.
Kelly says the restaurant will serve “international upscale comfort food. We pride ourselves on our responsibly sourced, local (when possible) selections of meat and seafood. Our beverage program will consist of about 30 craft beers, as well as a varied selection of wines and signature cocktails.”
Locally sourced seafood may be a little difficult in Athens, but the effort is something. Craft is unrelated to the restaurant of the same name in Cary, NC.
Update: Robert Longstreet, who worked at Porterhouse Grill as its general manager for three years, is the co-owner.
