Terrapin Beer Hosts Bake-Off, Expands Can Line

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Wake-n-Bake Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout (a collaboration between Terrapin Beer Co. and Jittery Joe’s Coffee), Terrapin is hosting a baking contest on Jan. 17 at the Foundry Ballroom (at Graduate Athens, aka the Inn Formerly Known as the Foundry Park).

Here are the details:

Taste delicious offerings from local Athens chefs and members of the community as they compete to be this year’s Wake-n-Bake Off Champion! Chefs will compete in two categories, Professional or Home Cook for the chance to win this coveted cooking title. All ticket and raffle proceeds go to benefit Wholesome Wave of Georgia, a local charity that helps make farmers’ market fresh food more easily accessible to those who cannot afford it. Join us in celebrating local beer, local food, and helping the Athens community at this amazing annual event.

Contrary to the name of the event, the beer used in your dessert DOES NOT HAVE TO BE WAKE-N-BAKE. It can be any kind of Terrapin beer. #TerrapinTruther (However, it should be added that your Hopsecutioner brownies probably suck.) Full rules and regulations are here. The deadline to enter is Dec. 31.

For those who merely plan to partake, tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door.

In other news, like Creature Comforts, Terrapin has expanded its canning line, meaning Mosaic Red Rye IPA will be released in those cheaper and more environmentally friendly aluminum containers in February, followed by three other seasonals, Maggie’s Peach Farmhouse Ale, Pumpkinfest and Moo-Hoo, a chocolate stout.
