Georgia Will Play TCU in the Liberty Bowl

Book your hotel in Memphis, Georgia fans. The Bulldogs received a bid this afternoon to play in the Liberty Bowl Dec. 30 against Texas Christian University.

TCU was considered a potential playoff contender in August, but stumbled to a 6-6 record that included wins over Texas and No. 17 Baylor and losses to Arkansas, No. 11 Oklahoma State and No. 12 West Virginia.

The Horned Frogs are led by quarterback Kenny Hill, a Texas A&M transfer who threw for more than 3,000 yards and ran for another 500. But Hill didn’t play much in a loss to Kansas State Saturday because of an ankle injury.

Georgia, meanwhile, is coming off a disappointing loss to archrival Georgia Tech, although it did beat Sugar Bowl invitee Auburn two weeks prior. The Dawgs finished Coach Kirby Smart’s first year 7-5.

ESPN will air the game, which kicks off at noon Eastern time.
