Philip Lee Williams, the prolific and multidimensional local writer, will be honored Sunday, Mar. 15 in his nearby hometown of Madison, GA, just down Hwy. 441 south of Athens.
The event, titled “Coming Home: Philip Lee Williams, A Celebration,” is in the beautiful old Madison-Morgan Cultural Center at 434 S. Main St. in Madison.
The doors open at 2 p.m., and an exhibit of Williams’ memorabilia from his long career will be on display. He will speak at 3 p.m.; a book-signing and reception will follow.
Williams is not only a writer, he is also a visual artist and a composer. His art will be on display, and recordings of his music will play during the reception.
This event will also coincide with the release of his 19th book, The Color of All Things: 99 Love Poems, which will be on sale along with some of his other recent books, including It Is Written: My Life in Letters.
The celebration is free and open to the public and offers the perfect excuse for a visit to historic Madison on an early spring Sunday afternoon.
