Photo Gallery: The 2024 Downtown Athens Parade of Lights

Thousands of people gathered in downtown Athens on Thursday night for the annual Parade of Lights, featuring floats from dozens of local schools, businesses and other organizations, culminating with the lighting of the community Christmas tree at City Hall. Flagpole contributor CJ Bartunek caught some of the highlights.

Athens’ new hockey team, the Rock Lobsters, participated in the parade, but would face disappointment the next day when their inaugural home game was canceled because the new Akins Ford Arena failed a fire test.
