I’ve been a resident of Athens for 40 years, worked in restaurants downtown and lived in four different locations. Never had a problem with Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste in my entire 40 years. Residents complain about trash in the streets. It is up to the residents not to overfill the bins, and not to leave trash on the ground. ACC will pick up what it’s in the bin—no less, no more—and residents need to be cleaner and clean up their messes. They need a ticket if they don’t follow the rules. My street doesn’t have any trash on the ground, because we are responsible residents. So, don’t complain about the ACC Solid Waste Department, please. They are super dedicated, polite and very responsible.
