I was having a Jittery Joe’s coffee with a couple of women friends this morning, and we were despairing over Trump’s out-of-nowhere accusation that Obama had wire-tapped him. Of course, the only thing missing is the proof. But these days who needs proof or truth? We all agreed that No. 45 is looking for something that will make him a hero fast. Then I read this headline for an article by William D. Hartung in The Nation this afternoon: “Trump’s Obsession With Generals Could Send Us Straight Into War With Iran: The president’s foreign policy picks have set the stage for an aggressive military-first administration.” Sadly, this may be his idea of a path to heroism. Let it not be so.
