Reminder: Several Athens Polling Places Have Changed Locations

As you go to vote today (and you are voting, right?), be aware that several polling places in Athens have changed.

• Precinct 1B, formerly East Athens Baptist Church, is now Gaines Elementary School, 900 Gaines School Road.

• Precinct 1C, formerly Barnett Shoals School, is now Whit Davis School, 1450 Whit Davis Road.

• Precinct 6B, formerly the Clarke County School District central office, is now at Georgia Square Mall on the second floor outside of Sears.

• Precinct 7A, formerly Timothy Road Baptist Church, is now at Timothy Road Elementary School, 1900 Timothy Road.

Precincts 1B and 7A were moved because election officials want to hold voting in public buildings wherever possible. In 1C, Barnett Shoals Elementary was demolished and is being rebuilt, and in 6B, the CCSD central office was recently sold to Advantage Behavioral Health Systems and is also under renovation.

full list of voting locations is here.

Another friendly reminder: Today isn’t like early voting, when you could vote wherever you wanted within Clarke County.  You have to vote at your assigned polling location. If you’re unsure which precinct you’re in (or if you’re not sure whether you’re registered in Clarke), click here. If you happen to show up at the wrong place, poll workers should be able to assist you in finding the right location.

Polls are open from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.

And as always, remember to bring a photo ID.
