Tony B.

Welcome to Athens Power Rankings. In the spirit of sports rating systems, through painstaking analysis, we rank the top movers and shakers in the Classic City each week. Who’s hot? Who’s not? Find out below.

1. Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement

The coalition stormed City Hall last week to demand that Mayor Nancy Denson allow a vote on a proposed discrimination ordinance. They got what they wanted.

2. Hurricane Matthew

While Athens was spared, evacuees filled up every hotel room in town, contributing to a gameday-like atmosphere last weekend, even though the Dawgs played in Columbia.

3. Janet Geddis

Avid Bookshop’s owner has had quite a month and will be featured in this week’s Flagpole.

4. Ann Sears

Sears is the lead organizer for Boo-le-Bark, the Boulevard Halloween parade for dogs that’s this week’s cover story.

5. Tony B

The local rapper gets a higher grade than a B from Gordon Lamb in his upcoming Threats & Promises.
