Jason Carter Is Campaigning in Athens Again

Carter meets supporters at Hendershot’s last December.

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jason Carter will be visiting Athens tonight and Wednesday morning for a fundraiser and to speak to an education group.

The fundraiser—at 6 p.m. on the rooftop of Grindhouse Killer Burgers in Five Points—will be hosted by R.E.M. bassist and manager Mike Mills and Bertis Downs, former Lt. Gov. Pierre Howard, former Athens-Clarke County Mayor Gwen O’Looney and state Rep. Spencer Frye (D-Athens), among others. The suggested minimum contribution is $100, so spend that money you’d be saving for dinner at Cinco y Diez.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Carter will address the Georgia School Superintendents Association conference at the Classic Center. A lot more boring, probably, but cheaper.
