GDOT Is Moving the Loop

Look out when you’re on the Loop. In what state Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope dubbed “Wild Work Zone Wednesday,” workers will be moving the 10 Loop’s intersection with Peter Street and Olympic Drive 700 feet to the south this week.

The work is expected to take all day and will lead to delays, according to construction engineer Harold Mull. The traffic shift will be in place for a year while contractor E.R. Snell builds a bridge and on- and off-ramps to replace the signalized intersection.

In case you were wondering, this project is also why there’s a giant mound of dirt on the side of the road there.

GDOT has been busy, busy, busy lately. It’s also repaving U.S. Highway 78 this month.
