A New Jersey Democrat has introduced a bill to commemorate Charles Darwin’s birthday, and guess whose committee it’s going to?
That’s right: Rep. Paul Broun’s, reports Georgia Tipsheet. The Athens Republican, who famously called evolution “lies straight from the pit of Hell,” then faced a campaign to get voters to write in Darwin’s name, serves on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, where Rep. Rush Holt’s bill was assigned.
The bill would declare Feb. 12, which would be the naturalist’s 204th birthday, as Darwin Day.
