UGA Presents, the University of Georgia’s professional performing arts series, has just announced another diverse lineup of musicians, dancers and other artists from around the world who will visit campus during the upcoming season. See the official press release below.
UGA Presents Announces 2024-25 Season
Grammy Award winning soprano and Kennedy Center Honoree Renée Fleming. Grammy Award winning jazz singer Samara Joy. The returning Vienna Choir Boys and The King’s Singers. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra playing Messiah in December and movie music by John Williams to conclude the season.
These star-studded performances are just a sample of the musicians, dancers, actors and circus artists appearing at the UGA Performing Arts Center (PAC), Fine Arts Theatre, and the Morton Theatre from September to June. (Full schedule below.)
“The last two years have been just as exhilarating and hopeful as the two years before those were uncertain and bleak,” says PAC Director Jeffrey Martin. “Our audiences have returned in a very robust way, propelling us headlong into a thrilling new era of creativity, inquisitiveness, and joy. The excitement is palpable all throughout the Performing Arts Center’s beautiful concert halls and across campus.
“This enthusiasm has created a sense of momentum unlike anything I’ve experienced previously. Fully expecting this forward motion to continue, our new performing arts season builds on past successes and takes us to new heights in enriching and meaningful ways.”
In the upcoming UGA Presents season, the PAC’s largest to date, many programs celebrate Women who Shine. These include artists such as Pulitzer Prize-winning multi-instrumentalist and composer and Silkroad Ensemble Artistic Director Rhiannon Giddens, multiplatinum Mexican mariachi diva Aída Cuevas, Broadway star Jessica Vosk, and Grammy winning singer-songwriter Kathy Mattea.
Student engagement is a mission of the PAC. In addition to masterclasses with visiting performers, the UGA Wind Ensemble will appear with contemporary music group Eighth Blackbird, and Hugh Hodgson School of Music jazz students are set to collaborate with pianist Jason Moran in a celebration of Duke Ellington’s music.
