Did you miss Night Palace’s enchanting Winter Solstice Soirée recently held at Buvez? Well, distract yourself from the 70-degree weather by throwing on your favorite comfy sweater and settling into the season with a video recording of the dream pop band’s set of cozy covers.

Vocalist Avery Leigh Draut is joined here by JoJo Glidewell on keyboards and vocals, Zack Milster on bass, Paul Stevens on vibraphone and singing saw, and Jeremy Wheatley on drums. The thoughtful track list includes “Winter is Blue” by ‘70s psych folk songstress Vashti Bunyan (0:22), “Fox in the Snow” by Belle and Sebastian (3:18), “Winter Now” by the dearly departed Broadcast (7:40), “Silver & Gold” from the 1964 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer stop-motion holiday special (13:29) and “Blue Christmas” (17:24).

This special performance was supported by an Arts in Community Resilience Award from the Athens Cultural Affairs Commission, which distributed funds to 50 local artists and organizations in an effort to assist creative projects during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the award cycle comes to a close this week, take a look back at all of the phenomenal exhibitions, performances, films and other activities supported by the ACAC this past year.
