Flagpole Premieres: Aldente, “Bottles Up” Video

A fusion of hip hop and rock, smooth and jammy like baby-making and crunk, Aldente’s sound is comparable to a garment you’d pick up off the rack at Goodwill—not finding it anywhere else. This genre-bending band just released a music video for their song “Bottles Up” off of their newest EP Nu Miami, which follows their two albums King Da Ka and Perfect Smash. Directed by Squid the Kid (production, guitar, bass) and dubbed “a creative spin on the ever prevalent quarantine/zoom video” by the band, the music video—like Aldente’s music—is a fun, hodgepodge ordeal.

The video hones Virginia Slim’s velvety vocals and is highlighted with Bubba Deluxe’s clever bars, both performed over melodic guitar and saxophone. It’s a video comprised of a bunch of smaller ones, with each clip shot from varying perspectives and in various settings. Bubble baths and chicken wrestling. Animations pop up here and there.  It’s lo-fi, blooper-like and a welcomed kind of awkward.

Below, watch the new video for “Bottles Up.”
