Flagpole Premieres: Scott Low, ‘Body Bag’

Alt-country troubadour Scott Low has deep Athens music ties, as the former frontman of Efren and Scott Low & the Southern Bouillon. Currently, Low is prepping the release of The New Vintage, a solo record that’s out June 17 via South Carolina imprint 10 Foot Woody Records.

Today, we’re pleased to premiere the album’s second single, the boisterous, somewhat menacing “Body Bag.” The tune draws from familiar folk and country sounds and features a hefty dose of Low’s signature lyrical guile. Stream it below:

Low clarifies that the song “is not autobiographical. I once read a story of a man in Louisiana waking up in a body bag, so I tried to figure how he got there.”

Low will play a local album-release show June 25 at Hendershot’s Coffee Bar as part of this year’s AthFest Music and Arts Festival.
