Dodd Ferrelle is considering throwing his hat into the ring for mayor of Winterville.

In an email sent to Flagpole on Sunday, the local musician and artist, a longtime Winterville resident, said he is “strongly considering a run,” adding that he’s “thinking it through with the family.”

The Banner-Herald also reports:

Ferrelle… said Monday that he expects to be filing a declaration of intent to seek campaign contributions with City Clerk Wendy Bond by the end of this week.

Ferrelle would become the fourth candidate in the mayoral race, which will be decided via a Nov. 3 election. Current mayor Emily Eisenman announced last week that she will not seek a second term. The qualifying period is Aug. 31–Sept. 4.

Ferrelle was a finalist in this year’s Flagpole Athens Music Awards in the singer-songwriter category.

UPDATE: Ferrelle has decided to make it official, telling us, “I plan to file downtown at the CCBOE around 3:30 Monday afternoon.”
