Flagpole Premieres: Crunchy, ‘DUOP’ Video

Athens musician Phelan LaVelle is one busy bee. In addition to fronting Shade, the excellent local groove-punk outfit that recently finished recording its sophomore album with Chase Park Transduction’s David Barbe, she sings and plays bass in Crunchy, a similarly spaced-out rock and roll duo. On Saturday, June 27, she will debut Scrunchie, a Crunchy spin-off, as part of Go Bar’s AthFest showcase.

In total, LaVelle’s three projects will play five shows over the course of this weekend, which makes today a fine occasion to premiere the video for “DUOP,” a stonerrific tune from Crunchy’s upcoming Spicy World EP.

Says LaVelle of the trippy clippy:

  • it’s a single off our upcoming debut EP, Spicy World, recorded by Robbie Rapp and Joshua Evans
  • the video is by Greg O’Connell
  • the location is Go Bar lol
  • Crunchy is Phelan LaVelle and Kathleen Duffield

Watch “DUOP” below:

Crunchy plays Little Kings Shuffle Club at 9 p.m. Friday, June 26, the Dirty Athens Day Party at the Caledonia Lounge on Saturday, June 27 and the Globe on Sunday, June 28.
