Flagpole Premieres: Motherfucker, ‘Confetti’ Video

As Gordon Lamb reported in last week’s Threats & Promises, hard-hitting Athens rock trio Motherfucker is gearing up to release its debut full-length, Confetti, July 30 via Chicago label Sick Room Records.

A couple weeks back, the band posted three songs from the album to its Bandcamp page, and now Flagpole is happy to premiere the official video for the record’s blistering title track.

Check out the clip below, courtesy of Athens production company Dominar Films:

Says Motherfucker drummer Erika Rickson:

[“Confetti”] was written right after my mom passed away. It’s about being overcome with grief and completely irritated with everyone complaining about their tiny problems… You can’t just verbally go off on these people because you are going through something difficult. It’s not their fault. So, I kept visualizing throwing confetti in someone’s face after they complained about something menial… The unofficial title is “Confetti (in your fucking face)”…

The Dominar guys took our very vague concept and fleshed it out into this awesome idea… Keppner Boxing was amazing to us and allowed us to fill that room with so much smoke. It looked super sinister in there. Washington Square Studio came in and did hair and makeup for us. The cast is completely made up of people we are good friends with. The guys from Maximum Busy Muscle are in there. Athens’ own drag queen superstar, Semaj, about stole the whole video! It was a really long day and everyone was so happy to be there. It’s very much a product of this town and people coming together to make something awesome.

Motherfucker plays the Caledonia Lounge on Saturday, June 27 as part of AthFest.
