Stream New Trav Williams Album, Gideon’s Army Trailer

Below, watch the trailer for Gideon’s Army, an HBO documentary directed by filmmaker Dawn Porter. The film follows the stories of three Southern public defenders striving to make a difference against intimidating odds. The film’s title is a reference to the 1963 Supreme Court case Gideon v. Wainwright, which ensured legal representation for indigent clients.

Among the film’s subjects is Trav Williams, a UGA Law School graduate and former mainstay on the Athens hip hop scene who now practices law in Hall County. Williams has also recently returned to the music world after a four-year hiatus, releasing a fantastic new mixtape, P.O.E. (it stands for “Preponderance of Evidence”).

The tape, which samples heavily from Jay-Z’s 1996 classic Reasonable Doubt (get it?) finds Williams exploring the strange intersection of his two worlds. Stream the album below, and catch Gideon’s Army on HBO next Monday, July 1 at 9 p.m..
