Efren Announces New Lineup, Local Shows

Local Americana outfit Efren has been dormant, at least publicly, since two of its members left the band last summer. Now, the remaining original members, Scott Low and Jonathan Brill, have announced that they’ve been joined by two other well-known locals: Clint Swords, who will take up bass duties, and Mike Strickland, who will play drums.

Swords, Strickland and Low have all played together as members of Betsy Franck’s Bareknuckle Band, so, as the band notes, “the transition was smooth.”

Catch Efren’s new lineup in action when it plays the Georgia Bar on Friday, Mar. 1, or the next night, Saturday, Mar. 2 at Green Room. Below, watch the video for “If My Heart Don’t Fail Me,” a tune from the band’s latest album, Write a New Song.
