FRIDAY, OCT. 19

Orange Twin/Gypsy Farm Showcase w/ The Humms, E.X.P., Al Scorch, The Shoal Creek Stranglers and Andrew, Scott and Laura @ 40 Watt: A dual presentation from two awesome local labels, this bill is a beautiful hodgepodge of style. Plus: Orange Twin unveils its neat-sounding new smartphone app, Handy Jam.

Fall Experimentaler w/ Quiet Evenings, Hand Sand Hands, Future Ape Tapes, Cult of Riggonia @ Go Bar: Some of Athens’ most exciting experimental acts join forces to commemorate “Athens’ decay into fall.” A visual art installation created by various musicians will be in effect.

SATURDAY, OCT. 20

Slow Water Music Festival @ Slow Water Kayaking (Royston): Local musician Betsy Franck curates this all-day outdoor affair, a Nuci’s Space benefit that features Bloodkin, Ike Stubblefield & Friends, Dangfly, Mama’s Love, The Woodgrains and many more.

Lera Lynn, Johnny Fritz, Cicada Rhythm @ Georgia Theatre: The local country songstress is much more than her cover songs, as detailed in our feature this week.

Turquoise Jeep, Mad Axes @ 40 Watt Club: The Internet comes to the stage. If you’re looking for substance, look elsewhere. This will be pure, dumb fun.

SUNDAY, OCT. 21

Local Musicians Rock for AthHalf: Local bands—namely DJ Ted Kuhn, Red Ravine, Old Smokey, Kate Wright, Death of the Peanut King, Cedar Shoals Marching Band and The HEAP—will provide musical accompaniment and encouragement along the AthHalf race route. Y’know, for those who want to get up at 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday. Just sayin’.
