No, this post isn’t about hipsters who hang out at Farm Cart and their facial hair choices. The Beard in its title is the annual James Beard Foundation Awards, AKA the food world’s Oscars, which have once again released the long list of semifinalists and seen fit to bestow a few upon our little town. Five & Ten is on the list for Outstanding Wine Program, up against restaurants from all over the country. Hugh Acheson again (cue Susan Lucci jokes) is listed for Outstanding Chef, Southeast, and his pastry chef at Empire State South in Atlanta, Cynthia Wong is competing with her peers as well. Just like last year, Mike Klank and Eddie Hernandez, of Taqueria del Sol, are competing for Outstanding Restaurateur, against many far ritzier restaurant groups, but the restaurants’ consistent quality and impeccable plan should qualify them. The list of finalists will be announced Monday, Mar. 19, and the awards ceremony takes place in New York on May 7.

Farm Cart is coming back to the patio of Farm 255 at the end of this month, with late-night and farmers’ market schedule yet to be announced. Yay!
