Pub on Main Is Open, Korean Coming to Baxter Street, and More Food News


Downtown Watkinsville’s Pub on Main, which replaced Pour, is softly open, with lawn games, giant Jenga, a frosé machine and more. The hours will eventually include lunch Monday through Friday, brunch Saturday and Sunday and dinner Monday through Saturday, with the bar open a little later, but for now you can find updates on the restaurant’s Facebook page. Normaltown Brewing Company (formerly known as Classic City Brewing Company) is working on a space in the Tracy Street warehouses. It’ll open in two phases, with a tasting bar first and a much larger space second. The grand opening is estimated for October.

The space on Prince next to Normal Books that previously housed Lindsey’s Culinary Market is becoming Half Shepherd Market and Cheese Shop.

The building at 1080 Baxter St. that was most recently Chonell’s will soon house D92 Korean BBQ, a business that may be related to 9292 Korean BBQ, in Duluth (which is also opening a location called D92 in Decatur). Apparently, the number 92 in Korean sounds like the sizzling of a grill.

Telly Mazzio is the new chef at Five & Ten, Richard Neal having moved on to The Admiral in Asheville. Ramen is back on Tuesdays.

Hokulia Shave Ice, a franchise focusing on Hawaiian shave ice, is popping up here and there in Athens while it looks for a more permanent location and is doing catering and parties.
