UGA students and football fans are barking up a storm and foaming at the mouth for football season, so much so that a music festival and celebration is happening downtown a week early from the first home game. Downtown For the Dawgs, a benefit for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Athens, will be setting up an outdoor stage at the intersection of Washington Street and College Avenue Saturday, Aug. 23 from 4–11 p.m.
Attendees are advised to wear their favorite Dawgs gear, “drink a little, bark a lot and pregame a season full of big games,” according to the Apollo Consulting promotion Instagram. There will be an open container zone with wristbands on sale at Boar’s Head Lounge and Silver Dollar. Cafe Racer, Biggums BBQ and La Parilla food trucks will also be on site.
On the main stage will be performances from Underground Springhouse (4 p.m.), Jericho (6 p.m.), Jameson Tank (8 p.m.) and The Gringos (10 p.m.).
