Taqueria Juaritos on Jefferson Road Is Closed After a Fire

On Thursday afternoon, the small strip of shops behind the BP gas station on Jefferson Road caught on fire. The strip contains a convenience store but also two wonderful Mexican eateries: Los Morros (formerly of Danielsville Road) and Taqueria Juaritos (a longtime contender for best tacos in the Athens area).

Julio Cesar Rivera, the owner of Taqueria Juaritos, spoke with Flagpole via text (with me using Google Translate because my Spanish is limited) and confirmed the restaurant’s closure for the moment. He said that fortunately no one was hurt and that he was waiting for investigations to be complete and for the insurance company to make a decision before he decides about rebuilding. He said that the worst damage from the fire was to the dining room, the bathrooms and the kitchen. Los Morros received less damage according to Rivera, but is also closed for the time being.

Looking to help? Miss the tacos? Taqueria Juaritos has another location in Bogart at 1311 Atlanta Highway.
