Businesses, restaurants, churches and schools around the Athens community are offering free Thanksgiving meals and various resources during the holiday week. All are welcome at these events, with an emphasis on those in need. Check the list below for this year’s offerings:
Classic Center: Banquet of Blessings
Nov. 24, 4:30–7:30 p.m.
Enjoy a community meal and free giveaways of clothes, toiletries and other necessities.
Athens First UMC: Thanksgiving Ingathering
Nov. 25, 5 p.m. (doors)
Enjoy a hot meal and receive an “Extra Thankful Bag” filled with Thanksgiving-inspired pantry staples.
El Paso Tacos & Tequila: Second Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
Nov. 26, 4–8 p.m.
One free plate per person from the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Sparrow’s Nest: Thanksgiving Feed the Hungry
Nov. 27, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Enjoy a buffet-style lunch and receive one bag of hygiene products per person.
Weaver D’s Delicious Fine Foods: 3rd Annual Feed the Hungry Dinner
Nov. 28, 12 p.m. (gospel), 2 p.m. (dinner)
There will be a gospel celebration with singers and special guests followed by a free hot meal.
Chuck’s Fish: Annual Thanksgiving Feast
Nov. 28, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all proceeds benefiting Project Safe.
