Creature Comforts Brewing Co. Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Since it was founded in April 2014, Creature Comforts Brewing Co. has expanded into a second Athens production facility and officially opened a new brewery and taproom last fall in Los Angeles, CA. The Athens taproom will be hosting multiple events through April to celebrate its milestone anniversary, but the main event will be held this Saturday, Apr. 6 from 12–11 p.m. Hancock Avenue will be closed from Pulaski to Hull streets from 8 a.m. to midnight this day.

All attendees will need to purchase a wristband for $24.99 that will grant them access to drink in the festival zone on Hancock Avenue, but other tiered bundles are also available that include beer, glassware and swag. Three food trucks will be on-site all day: Farm Burger, Super Taco and Official Street Eats. There will be an art market from 12–7 p.m. with nearly 20 vendors and live music all day. Penelope Road Band (2 p.m.), Better Than Better Than Ezra (5:30 p.m.) and The Funk Brotherhood (9 p.m.) will perform with DJs playing in between.

Creature Comforts Brewing Company, an award-winning, purpose-driven craft brewery, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the community. The Athens Taproom, located at 271 W. Hancock Ave., will host multiple events throughout April to acknowledge this milestone achievement. The main event will be held on Saturday, April 6, with bands, DJs, food trucks, special glassware and more. Event tickets can be purchased on the Creature Comforts website.

“The Creature Comforts team has always believed that beer brings people together and that breweries have historically been the place where people gather to share ideas and life together,” said Creature Comforts co-Founder and CEO Chris Herron. “As we mark this significant anniversary, it’s allowed us to reflect on the positive impact we’ve made in the communities we serve, both in conversations over beer and with philanthropic efforts through our Get Comfortable campaign.”

Built on the foundation of fostering human connection, Creature Comforts lives its purpose through the creation of industry-leading beverages and experiences. The brand has experienced incredible growth since its inception, becoming one of the 35 largest craft breweries in America in only 10 years. As the largest independent craft brewery in the State of Georgia, the brand is known for its popular and award-winning beers including Tropicália, Classic City Lager and Athena. In 2023, Creature Comforts was named as the Official Taproom and Craft Beer of UGA Athletics with the campaign tagline: Go Dawgs, Sip ‘Em!

The brewery has been recognized often—within its region and its industry—for its innovative and effective approach to community impact work. Creature Comforts has made a commitment to giving back through its flagship corporate philanthropy program, Get Comfortable, for which it was recently named as the Impact Business of the Year for the impactful work the company is having with third grade literacy in its hometown. As documented in its recently released second annual Impact Report, Creature Comforts has surpassed more than five million dollars in total community impact.
Known for its wide range of highly rated and award-winning beers, the Creature Comforts line-up includes year-round and seasonal offerings such as Tropicália (American IPA), Classic City Lager (Lager), Bigger Dreams (Hazy IPA) and others. Limited releases using locally sourced ingredients include Spring Belgian-Style Wheat Ale to Hazy Double IPAs to Rustic Style Ales. Creature Comforts DTLA will also produce select beers exclusively for the California market. Classic City Lager has earned a Gold Medal in the American Pilsener category at the Great American Beer Festival and Bibo and Athena have both won Bronze Medals in the German-Style Pilsener category at World Beer Cup.
