The Baxter Street restaurant home.made has pivoted, experimented and changed many times over the years since opening in 2011. After owner and chef Mimi Maumus made an announcement on Wednesday, Feb. 14 via the home.made Facebook and Instagram accounts that the business would be taking a pause due to Athens-Clarke County sewer construction, it officially closed on Feb. 16.
Maumus reported to the Athens Banner-Herald that there were numerous reasons beyond the construction for the closure, and that the business was unable to make a financial recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
