Cafe Racer Expands Dinner and More Athens Food News

Cafe Racer‘s Athens location has been motoring along since it opened, but up until now, dinner was only available on Fridays. Starting on Tuesday, Feb. 6, it’ll be open six nights a week (Tuesday through Sunday) from 5–10 p.m. each night. The dinner menu is a bit different than the breakfast one and includes burgers, excellent fries and chicken tenders. Looking for a chance to check it out for free? Be one of the first 200 customers to snag breakfast there tomorrow morning (Sunday, Feb. 4) and you might get a golden ticket good for a free burger or loaded fries to redeem during the first week of expanded dinner service.

Cantarito’s Cafe, the delightful pan-Latin restaurant in Homewood Hills that up until now has only done breakfast and lunch, has also expanded into dinner and is open continuously from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays. It also serves margaritas. The dinner menu is available starting at 3 p.m. each day.

Baddies Burgers will be serving at every sporting event in Stegeman Coliseum this year (basketball, gymnastics) as well as at soccer and softball games at the Turner Soccer Complex on Milledge Avenue, unless those events are on a Sunday.

Farm Burger is offering one free order of fries in February to customers who order through its app.

A restaurant called Bento Shop that doesn’t appear to be a chain is moving into the space that was Wing Zone on Clayton Street downtown.

Mighty Bean Hummus, a Middle Eastern vegetarian place with vegan options, is looking to open in the Ansonborough development on Gaines School Road on the Eastside.

Kiki’s Bakeshop, in Watkinsville, has tinkered with its hours to give its staff two days off in a row and is now open Tuesday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (closed Sunday and Monday).
