How to Recycle Your Christmas Tree on Jan. 6

Credit: Kristina Paukshtite

At Athens-Clarke County’s “Bring One for the Chipper” event Saturday, Jan. 6, residents can recycle their Christmas trees into mulch between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Residents can bring their trees to one of eight drop-off sites: Clarke Middle School, the Sandy Creek Nature Center, Burks (formerly Chase Street) Elementary, the UGA Veterinary Teaching Center, the Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM), the ACC tag office, the Georgia Square Mall police substation and the Winterville Public Works building. They also accept metal wreaths and light strings.

Alternatively, residents can bring their undecorated trees to the ACC landfill or put them out at the curb for leaf-and-limb pickup. Check the schedule here.
