Been seeing a lot of activity in the cute lil’ round spaceship at 1190 Prince Avenue, where the Walgreens used to be? Daily Groceries has been hard at work prepping it and (cross your fingers) should open to the public there on July 5.
The longtime co-op has wanted more space for a long time, and the new digs should allow for more prepared foods, better volume discounts, more parking, more local produce and just… more. Daily launched a GoFundMe in March to help with moving expenses and has been selling $100 gift cards for $80 to help provide more cash in hand. A page on its website details some of the moving plans and what’s happened so far. The co-op is also hiring for all positions.
The Flying Biscuit will open its second location in the area (this one not in Athens, but in the Markets at Epps Bridge, in Oconee, by Newk’s) on Monday, July 3. A whole bunch of discounts and food giveaways are available in its opening week:

home.made is tinkering again, offering dine-in for lunch customers in its Sidecar space starting next week.
Athens Restaurant Week returns July 10–16. This annual event to promote culinary tourism, both by outsiders and by locals, features a whole bunch of restaurants offering special deals (e.g., a three-course meal at The Expat for $35 per person).
