Georgia Bulldogs Win 2023 National Championship

Last night the Georgia Bulldogs pulled off another National Championship win for the second year in a row with a final score of 65–7 against the TCU Horned Frogs. Once again, football fans—and curious bystanders who knew what was about to go down—flooded downtown Athens after the win.

Although the completion of the Clayton Street project made the actual streets themselves less dangerous this year, it opened up a whole new playground. Videos have been circulating on social media of the crowd carrying one of the recently planted trees and one of the newly installed public art pieces high above their heads, as well as someone setting fire to a piece of brush that led to others jumping over it through the fire.

UGA has scheduled a Championship Celebration for this Saturday, Jan. 14 starting at 12:30 p.m. with a parade along Lumpkin Street on campus. This will be followed by a Dawg Walk at 1 p.m. and an official program inside Sanford Stadium at 2 p.m.

The Flagpole National Championship issue will be released on Jan. 18. Check back this week for a photo gallery of last night’s celebrations.
