Dinner Party To Reopen as a Bar Under New Name

Shae and Ryan Sims’ beloved Dinner Party, a chef’s take on an Americanized version of Chinese food, closed this summer “temporarily” in a move that has now become permanent, something that was hinted at over the summer when many of its dishes, etc. were sold. But it’s not all bad news. As indicated by some test swatches of paint on the exterior of the Five Points space, the Simses are reimagining it as something new: Bar Bruno, a wine and aperitivo-focused bar with small plates and snacks. Greg Smolik, local food and wine expert, will head things up.

Ryan Sims says, “Along with a fabulous selection of wines poured by the glass and bottle, we will also offer a selection of cocktails, espresso, non-alcoholic beverages, small plates and snacks. Expect a hefty selection of amaro, vermouth, grappa and other fun spirits to sample. Bottles of wine and other curated items will also be available to take home and enjoy or give as gifts. Wine tastings, special events and hosted pop-ups are also part of the grand plan.”

Five Points doesn’t actually have a lot of bars, and the size and narrowness of the space may make it work better this way. You can find updates on the new place on Instagram at @barbrunoathens.
