The deadline to request an absentee ballot for the May 24 nonpartisan Athens-Clarke County elections and Democratic and Republican primaries is Friday, May 13.
Voters can request an absentee ballot at the Georgia Secretary of State’s website or by calling the ACC Board of Elections at 706-613-3150. A new state voting law moved up the deadline from 2020 and also instituted a photo ID requirement to vote by mail.
In addition, four new early voting sites will open this Saturday: at the ACC Library (2025 Baxter St.), Miriam Moore Community Center (410 McKinley Drive), ACC Extension Office (275 Cleveland Road) and the ACC Tennis Center (4460 Lexington Road). They will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14 and Monday, May 16 through Friday, May 20.
The Board of Elections office (155 E. Washington St.) is also open for early voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays through May 20, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 15.
