The local civil rights organization the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement will screen a documentary about the group Tuesday evening and a hold a march for murder victim Ahmaud Arbery on Wednesday.

The 20-minute video, “The Movement,” will be screened at 5:30 p.m. at Hendershot’s, followed by a performance by hip hop artist Squalle (who, incidentally, will grace the cover of this week’s issue of Flagpole). The screening is free, but the AADM says donations are appreciated. The documentary is also available to rent or buy online.

Meanwhile, Wednesday is the second anniversary of Arbery’s murder in Brunswick. The AADM will commemorate it with a 2.23 mile walk around downtown starting at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.

A jury earlier today found Arbery’s killers, Gregory and Travis McMichael and William “Roddie” Bryant, guilty of federal hate crimes. The three white men chased Arbery, who was Black, through a neighborhood while Arbery was out jogging, ending with Travis McMichael shooting him.
