Athentic’s Mental Health IPA and More Local Beer News

Creature Comforts' new variety 12-pack.

Boulevard microbrewery Athentic Brewing Co. is among a number of independent craft brewers releasing new IPAs with some of the proceeds going toward mental health.

Things We Don’t Say is based on a recipe from Milwaukee’s Eagle Park Brewing. The Athentic version is 6.7% alcohol by volume and is brewed with oats, wheat and cashmere, azacca and El Dorado hops. It’s on tap and available in limited quantities of six-packs at the taproom starting today.

$1 of each sale will go to Nuci’s Space, the Athens rehearsal space and mental health resource center for musicians. Another $1 will go to Hope for the Day, a suicide prevention and mental health nonprofit.

Another local brewery, Creature Comforts, has released its first variety pack, which includes three cans each of pilsner Bibo, tart Berliner weisse Athena, pale ale Automatic and flagship IPA Tropicalia. The 12-packs are available now at the brewery’s downtown taproom and will hit store shelves sometime in early October.

Finally, Terrapin (which we still count as local despite being owned by MillerCoors and expanding to Atlanta) has a new beer out as well. Pregame Lager is available in the Terrapin Tailgate Survivor Kit 12-pack.
