Calendar Pick: Sanguisugabogg

Sanguisugabogg

Fresh off of recording its unreleased third album, death metal band Sanguisugabogg is embarking on a spring tour across North America with a set featuring favorites from its earlier discography and new surprises. The band’s name is a combination of the latin word for leech, sanguisuga, and the British slang word for toilet, bog (plus a reference to former member Cameron Boggs’ last name), roughly translating to blood-sucking toilet. The band’s lyricism does not stray from that energy, often noted for its deviance and grossness. Recent cuts from its newest record, Homicidal Ecstasy, include “Black Market Vasectomy,” “Testicular Rot” and “Skin Cushion.” Music journalist Max Heilman writes for Metal Injection, “These guys love playing grimy, groove happy death metal in the same way horror movie fans embrace grindhouse splatter flicks.” Sanguisugabogg will be joined by a lineup of other metal and hardcore acts, including Full of Hell, Harm’s Way, 200 Stab Wounds, Gridiron and Mutilated.
