For more than 15 years, Project Safe has hosted Dancing with the Athens Stars, an annual fundraising event for the nonprofit that works to end domestic violence through crisis intervention, ongoing supportive services, systems change advocacy, prevention and education. This year’s event features 11 teams made up of prominent figures in the Athens community who volunteer to participate. They are paired with an instructor in a specific style or form of dance, then perform as duos in hopes of winning audience favor. Teams can win in three categories: Judges’ Favorite, Community Favorite (most tickets sold), or Audience Favorite (most funds raised).
