CupcakKe is the stage name of Chicago rapper Elizabeth Eden Harris, whose career took off after finding viral success on YouTube in 2015. Though her music is known for its hypersexual and often humorous nature, she first got into music as a child through singing at church. She took an interest in rap music at the age of 13 when a fellow member of her congregation recommended she turn to the genre. Harris became infatuated with artists like 50 Cent, Lil’ Kim and Da Brat, citing them as influences for her own music. Her debut album was released in 2016 and hit the media hard, earning her the number 23 spot on Rolling Stone’s Best Rap Albums List for that year. Since then, she has self-released four more albums, most recently 2024’s Dauntless Manifesto, which maintains her scandalous persona, but also addresses topics like racism, poverty and the LGBTQ+ community.
